DBA Companion is a versatile suite of tools that enable databaseadministrators to effectively manage applications, users, source code,database objects, and storage resource capacity in rapidly evolving SQLproduction environments. DBA Companion comprises three separate products:Applications Manager, Database Analyzer, and Resource Manager.Application Manager is a controlled, forms-based environment forautomating application configuration management and security. It includessophisticated scanner routines that scan the source-code files of yourapplications, extracting the specific table access requirements for eachresource -- screen, report, script, and program -- comprising yourapplications. The information is then loaded into an applicationrepository for further analysis.Database Analyzer provides in-depth analysis, exception reporting, andautomatic cleanup of virtually every database object in the RDBMSenvironment.Resource Manager is the first storage management and capacity planningtool designed for RDBMSs. With the Resource Manager, the DBA can nowefficiently utilize storage resources, identify and correct fragmentationand chaining problems, ensure optimal database performance, and plan forfuture database expansion by monitoring growth rates.
